NHS Direct Wales is urging people to get vaccinated after a recent outbreak of Measles in Newport and Torfaen. Measles can result in blindness, deafness or even death and NHS Direct say that 95% of the population need to be vaccinated to ensure protection against the disease. They are re-iterating that the vaccine is totally safe and have issued more information about the symptoms to look out for, which include fever, runny nose, cough and possibly a rash.
