New organisation is being created
Everyone deserves a safe warm home, a place they love, and a community they belong to. The demand for homes has never been higher. The decisions we make today matter more than they ever have. That is why we decided to merge Melin Homes and Newport City Homes, to create a new organisation set up to better achieve these aims.
We will combine our years of experience, our scale, the connections that we make and the local knowledge we can share, to work side by side with our communities, helping them grow.
From Bettws to Blaenavon, Crickhowell to Chepstow, our roots are bedded in these places. Our work matters to all of us, because we live here too.
The new merged organisation will be called Hedyn.
Hedyn is Welsh for seed. It symbolizes growth, new beginnings, and the potential for positive change. By connecting people across five local authority areas in Wales, Hedyn is committed to building communities where everyone can thrive.
We spent a lot of time talking to our customers, residents, partners and colleagues to find out what’s important to you, what you expect from the new organisation, and how we can meet that need.
We engaged with over 900 people, through workshops, testing and stakeholder interviews, as well as key input from our Joint Customer Panel. We used this extensive research and insight, with the support of brand experts at Cowshed, to develop our new name and brand.
We will be writing to all customers and residents in the coming months with more information about Hedyn and the merger, and how the commitments made in Our Promise to You [link] will be delivered.
We’ll keep you updated over the next few weeks with more details about Hedyn, but for now check out this video to learn more...
