We spoke to our Community Safety team

To mark ASB Awareness Week, we have spoken to our Community Safety Team, who are at the forefront of our work tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB). The small but dedicated team are currently working on 95 active cases. They’ve already secured 10 court orders and are actively pursuing legal action in an additional 4 cases.

The team takes a person-centred, trauma-informed approach, believing that early intervention is key to addressing the root causes of Anti-social behaviour. They work closely with local partners, including Police and safeguarding organisations, to understand the unique needs of each person, provide tailored support, and effectively resolve reported concerns.

The work of the Community Safety Team goes beyond resolving individual cases. It is about building trust, fostering collaboration, and creating safer environments for everyone. We are proud of the dedication and compassion our team brings to every situation, helping residents and communities thrive together.

How the team helps

Through education, support, prevention, and, when necessary, legal action, the team works towards lasting solutions. While eviction is a last resort, they are committed to finding appropriate solutions, whether it is referring individuals to support services, implementing behaviour contracts, or pursuing legal action.

Working with partner organisations we can also offer;

· Conflict Coaching: A chance for individuals to express their concerns, feel heard, and work towards a resolution.

· Mediation: Impartial mediators help both sides reach a mutually acceptable agreement.

· Counselling: ASB can take a toll on mental health; talking with a trained professional provides valuable emotional support.

Our work has a huge impact on the lives of residents and the communities they live in. We see people, not cases, and understand that anti-social behaviour can often be a symptom of unmet needs or past trauma. Our goal is to provide support and solutions that address those root causes. By focusing on the person behind the behaviour and fostering collaboration with other agencies, the team creates opportunities for positive change.
