Best Companies 2024

Since 2017 we have taken part in the Best Companies, b-Heard survey. This year we had a 90% staff response rate, we will use the information to measure staff engagement, understand how our staff feel, find out more about where we excel and where we can make meaningful changes.

‘Congratulations you’ve been accredited as a 3 Star World Class organisation.’

That’s the news we received this week, which is outstanding and testament to all the hard work of our dedicated and caring staff. Our people know that we aim do our best for our residents and the communities we work with.

We have to wait until October to find out our position on the Best Companies lists, but rest assured we will share the news with you!

The survey is confidential, but our staff get to share what they think about working at Melin. Here’s what people said when asked - What makes this a great place to work?

“The people, the culture, the ability to really help our residents and make a difference to their lives.”

“Melin are a fantastic organisation to work for. The organisation is always going above and beyond to help staff, improve wellbeing and be a great employer.”

“Everyone wants to help and make a difference.”

“Melin is very inclusive, and the wellbeing of staff is at the forefront. It’s never too much trouble when asking for advice or help with a situation.”

“Colleagues, the CEO and the Board. The organisation has a genuine belief that staff who are valued deliver better services to our residents. The potential merger demonstrates the ambition of the organisation to provide more opportunities for residents and communities. There will be opportunities for staff too.”

“I love that the vision and values are genuinely adhered to, not just lip service. I feel that I can truly be myself and that is accepted. I think all of the wellbeing initiatives are excellent.”

“The team I work in are like family and I appreciate them every day. Everyone is approachable for help any time of day to get the answers you need.”

These awards really matter to us at Melin because they are based on how staff genuinely feel about where they work. It is so important to have an engaged workforce, where people know their voices are heard. We encourage people to give feedback so that we can understand what we are doing well and where we can do things better.

Being recognised as a 3-star organisation is testament to our people and all of their hard work. I am so proud and look forward to taking this learning forward to our merged organisation with Newport City Homes.
